I am Agil Pirverdiyev, a FIDE Master from Baku, Azerbaijan. I have been coaching chess online full-time for around fifteen years, with more than 100 students so far.
My FIDE ratings are 2508 rapid and 2411 standard. As a junior I won the World Under-16 Championship in 2011 and the European Under-14 Championship, and I have a silver medal from the Chess Olympiad. I have also won international open tournaments in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
Most players who come to me do not have a knowledge problem. They have a planning problem: they know openings, they solve puzzles, and then the theory runs out around move fifteen and they have no idea what to do. That is what I teach, and I teach it from your own games rather than from a fixed syllabus.
I currently work every week with students in Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.

Every lesson starts with your own recent games, especially the ones you lost. I go through them before we meet, so we begin with real chess instead of introductions.
From those games I teach the four questions to ask in any position: What is my worst piece? What does the pawn structure tell me? What does my opponent want? Which exchange can I force?
How a lesson runs: one to one, online, on a shared board. We work from your own game or from last week's task. At the critical moment I stop and ask what you saw - you do the calculating, I correct the method behind it. Every lesson ends with one specific task for the week, small enough that you will actually do it, and the analysis is sent to you in writing afterwards.
I work with complete beginners and with rated tournament players, one to one or in small groups of four to six. All lessons are taught in English.
I am two hours ahead of Slovakia, so weekday evenings work comfortably for both of us.
The first 30 minutes are free: I show you what is costing you points in your own games and give you an honest plan. If you decide not to continue, the plan is still yours.
